Stop Scrolling! My top 3 Menopause Health books to get you curious

Updated: Jan 8

You will have heard "knowledge is power!" Maybe true, but, as a womens health and fitness coach, I believe knowledge that is useful and that creates change, is more powerful. Having read many health and wellbeing books in the last 12 -18 months, I have found some more insightful than others.

Here are a few recommended Menopause Health Books that may align with where you are at right now on your menopause journey.

List of menopause health books

Choose from, or consider all three, as informative, sometimes humourous, meaningful resources.

1. The XX BRAIN by Dr Lisa Mosconi

Curious to know why we think differently, behave differently and most importantly age differently to men? It's because our brains are different! Taking on all aspects of womens health, this book offers methods for protecting the female brain, optimising the diet, reducing stress and improving quality sleep. This "landmark" book introduces research that shows why we are far more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, insomnia, hormonal imbalances and memory lapses.

2. Burnout. Solve your Stress cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski

The middle ground between doing/being what you want and doing/being what other people expect you to be seems to get blurred as we enter middle age and there is a danger of getting lost in the blur. Truth is we have done so much for so long that whether burned out or not, it is likely that ..."you've received the message that when you're feeling overwhelmed with helplessness...you cant be 'rational'...you're just overreacting and the problem is your mindset...or your weakness or just generally your fault."

This book presents how you can learn how to complete the stress cycle without feeling shame and how to finally start putting yourself first.

3. Natural Menopause by Anne Henderson

A beautifully illustrated book about attending to the aging process mindfully and holistically. Designed more as a manual, allowing the reader to dip in and out of, the advice given provides information on recognizing the signs and dealing with individual symptoms that may bother you the most. Especially

those who wish to take a route without prescription medication.

Lastly, knowing just a little bit about why we have troublesome physical and emotional symptoms in Menopause, can empower us to writing our own script for our health journey ahead.

We will spend up to or more than a third of our years in this life stage and as a womens health and fitness coach, I believe it is important to gain knowledge that enables us to interpret what is going on in a practical and meaningful way.

In conclusion, my best menopause health books that I recommend to all my clients are:

  • The XX BRAIN by Dr Lisa Mosconi

  • Burnout. Solve your Stress cycle by Emily and Amelia Nagoski

  • Natural Menopause by Anne Henderson
